Peter Andre, Kerry Katona and Katie Price have all used theirs. But Kim Kardashian and her family have not. This week, the latest couple in the Kardashian clan was accused of not using their real home in the high ratings reality television show.
Having already been accused of failing to use the real exterior of her own home, the star’s sister Kourtney and her partner Scott are the latest couple in the family to have allegedly used a fake house.
Kourtney and Scott’s Calabasas home is reportedly completely different to the home they recently sold.
Kim is understood to have defended her decision, saying the fake exterior was used for ‘security reasons’.
Using a home in a reality series can certainly prove big business, with the Kardashians said to earn a total of $10m per season of their Keeping Up With the Kardashians show.
Closer to home, using a property in filming has proved a popular formula for reality stars Peter Andre, Kerry Katona and Katie Price.
Properties for sale in Calabasas, Los Angeles:
Five bedroom property in Palmilla Drive for £1,199,062 ($1,995,000)
Four bedroom property in the Santa Monica mountains for £1,607,765 ($2,675,000)
Six bedroom home for sale in sought-after community of Westridge for £1,051,208 ($1,749,000)

You may remember that the ex-glamour model shelled out £2.5m for the home in 2008 with then hubby Peter Andre and lived in it with her three kids. Once the couple split, she stayed put, eventually moving in second husband and cage fighter Alex Reid, with whom she parted ways earlier this year.
Now, after trying to unload the property, which has been on the market for more than six months at £2.9m , Price reportedly knocked £250,000 off the asking price and has now – finally - exchanged contracts on the home.
All this is good news for the reality TV star formerly known as Jordan, who reportedly slashed the price because she was convinced the Woldingham home was “cursed” and would jinx her relationship with new love Leandro, who as far as FindaProperty.com can tell, does not have a surname.
These days, Price and her Argentinian polo player love are settled in a £2 million country mansion in West Sussex, which they are in the process of renovating.
And if the interior of her former Surrey home is anything to go by, her West Sussex bolthole may be transformed into a glamour pad set to rival the most blinged-up Hollywood homes.
Price reportedly spent £500,000 sprucing up the eight bedroom Surrey mansion whose new owners will now be able to enjoy a sprawling Gone With the Wind style staircase, plush purple lounge room, indoor pool, stables, gym and 1.3 acres of grounds.
She says: “Cursed”. We say: “One ex-glamour model’s curse is another’s eight bedroom blessing”.
Colin Firth, crowned the nation’s ideal neighbour
Very few of us need worry about a celebrity neighbour, but having the right celebrity on your street can benefit a neighbourhood and have a positive impact on home values, but the wrong celebrity can have the opposite effect. An unpopular celebrity can not only make a street less appealing, but potentially damage house prices.
Our recent Zoopla.co.uk Celebrity Neighbour Survey for 2011 clearly shows who you (over 4000 of you) believe would benefit and harm your street.
Colin Firth, who lives in Chiswick, West London where properties currently cost £647,988 on average according to us, confirmed his status as the man of the moment garnering more than 15% of the vote for most desirable celebrity neighbour. The ‘nation’s sweetheart’ Cheryl Cole was Firth’s nearest rival with nearly one in ten votes (9%), closely followed by Ant & Dec (also Chiswick residents) with 8.7%. Rounding off the top five most desirable neighbours were Jeremy Clarkson (8.1%) and Michael McIntrye (7.5%). And giving Cheryl Cole one more thing to tease her mentor over, Simon Cowell finds himself on the wrong list, coming in 10th place on Britain’s least desirable neighbour rankings with 2.7% of the vote.
In the stakes for least desirable celebrity neighbour Katie Price, (whose property is for sale on Zoopla.co.uk) leaves all others in her dust with almost one in three respondents (29.1%) voting her the neighbour from hell. Her closest rivals for the top spot were Irish pop duo Jedward (12.6%), jungle hypochondriac Gillian McKeith (7.8%) and Dancing on Ice evictee Kerry Katona (7.6%) – see her property for sale on Zoopla.co.uk. Alex Reid also made the top 10 least desirable list with 4.3% of the vote. And proving that he is trouncing his former wife for the public’s affections, Peter Andre just missed out on a spot in the top 10 most desirable celebrity neighbours, securing 13th place with 3% of the vote.

On the fence…
Proving that politics and popularity go hand in hand, David Cameron is one of only two names to appear on both the most and least desirable neighbours lists, gaining an almost equal share of the vote in both cases. The other name to appear on both lists, long known as a love him or hate him type and the ultimate marmite-celebrity, is Jeremy Clarkson although he did secure a notably higher share of the most desirable vote than least desirable.

Celebrity glamour model Katie Price, formerly known as Jordan, has lived her life through the tabloids. There is very little we don’t know about the best-selling author (really) or that can’t be found out via Google! So, we are somewhat surprised that the sale of her 10,000 sq ft, 8-bedroomed, former care home in Woldingham, Surrey (where average home values are £836,734) has, so far, been unusually low-key. What’s more, if she achieves her asking price, it’s possible she could end up making £850,000 on the sale (excluding costs).
She re-married earlier this year and in June splashed out £2m on a 6-bedroom, 53 acre property with horse stables in West Sussex (where average home values are £267,879)to set up home with cage fighting hubby and Celebrity Big Brother contestant, Alex Reid.
Clearly she now has no need for her former (care) home she shared with her former husband, Peter Andre, and has listed the property for sale with a price tag of £2,950,000. We hear she bought the property for £2,100,000 in 2008.
Here’s the property for sale on Zoopla.co.uk and here are some vital stats:
- Average property values for Lunghurst Road, Surrey according to Zoopla are: £1,020,361
- Over the last 5 years 12 properties have been sold on this road with an average sold price of £808,833
- If Katie Price achieves her asking price, she could be set to make £850,000
Here are Pricey’s particulars:
8 Bedrooms | 7 Bathrooms/Shower Rooms | Grand Reception Hall | Drawing Room/Cinema Room | Dining Room (Currently A Playroom) | Family Room | Study | Orangery | Kitchen/Breakfast Room | Gym | Indoor Pool Complex | Triple Garage
