Oooh look, it’s The Apprentice house exclusively revealed by Zoopla.co.uk #apprentice
We love all things property here at Zoopla.co.uk and firmly believe information and good research is the key to making smarter property decisions.
So, whilst watching the first two episodes of the BBC’s The Apprentice earlier this week, we couldn’t help become a little curious as to where exactly this year’s stunning house is located.
We knew the property would be on Zoopla because we list every UK home (all 27m) in our home values section. So, we were hopeful we’d be able to unearth some juicy inside info on this year’s house for you. We weren’t disappointed…
We’d seen the front of the house in the show in Tuesday’s episode (9.03 mins in on BBC iPlayer) where the sixteen hopefuls would call home as they compete to win a £250,000 investment to start their own company, with Lord Sugar as their business partner and so we were hunting a huge pad with a sizeable value tag to match – see below.
The next clue came as Apprentice narrator, Mark Halliley, repeatedly stated “Richmond” as this years location for the house. So, a little navigation in map view (we’ve incorporated Google Street View on Zoopla), then a quick trip to confirm our suspicions and now we can exclusively reveal that the house is actually located on Christchurch Road, East Sheen, London, SW14.
So, what specifics can Zoopla.co.uk tell us about the area and the house?
Average property values in East Sheen are currently £667,199
The average value of property in Christchurch Road, SW14 is £1,266,477
The current Zoopla property value of this year’s Apprentice house is £4,669,636
Then if we look at the property details page on Zoopla we can tell you that the house is a 7-bedroomed, detached, freehold property with 6 bathrooms, 3 receptions and is currrently valued at £4,669,741. We suspect that one of the other rooms (games room / study) is being currently used as a bedroom so that the sixteen (although now 14…games room returns?) hopefuls can each share an en-suite room.
Digging deeper and into the Zoopla Property Archive, where we store historic records of properties from across the UK that at one time have been for sale or to rent on the open market in the last 10 years, we can also see that the property was previously listed for sale on 31st Mar 2004 for £1,800,000 and detailed as a 5-bedroom detached house at that point.
Our sold price records (we have over 16.6m dating back to 1995) show that the Apprentice house was sold on 23rd Apr 2004 for £1,715,000…£85,000 less than the original asking price.
We’ve also done a little more research and found out that the property that was bought in 2004 was then demolished and the stunning property we see on our screens was born!
As always, please feel free to share and use this information, all we ask is that you credit the source as Zoopla.co.uk and link to any of the links above or Zoopla.co.uk. Thank you.

Is Aaron Lennon about to make £165,000 on his property?
With a little research, we have good reason to believe that this is, or was, the 4-bedroom detached (with gym, pool, cinema and sauna) home belonging to England and Tottenham Hotspur footballer, Aaron Lennon.
What do we at Zoopla.co.uk know about this property?
Because we list every UK home, provide free value estimates for any UK home and constantly update our information via many sources, including the collective intelligence of the community of over 4 million users, the chances are we’ll know quite a bit.
Here is the 4-bedroom detached home (called Badgers) in the Home Values section of Zoopla.co.uk and we value this property at £2,598,953.
Looking at the change in value of the property, over the last year it’s up £313,286 (13.7%), but compared to the last two years it’s down £56,686 (-2.1%). So his timing’s not bad.
Here are more values for his road - Theydon Road.
In terms of previous sold prices, we know that the current owner bought the property on January 26th 2007 for £2,435,000. A little before that time, Lennon signed a new 5 ½ year deal worth £20,000 a week with Tottenham on 8 January 2007, which will keep him at the club until 2012.
Other sold prices for this property are as follows:
28th June 2002 - £1,500,000
2nd September 1996 - £600,000
It’s currently listed for sale by two agents at an asking price of £2,600,000.
Here’s a bit of a description of the property and more photos here:
“Set between Epping and Theydon Bois is this most impressive detached family house, with private electric gated entrance. The property offers a superb contemporary living space and accommodation, which includes master bedroom suite, three further main bedrooms, two being en suite, family bathroom, two reception rooms plus cinema room, study and kitchen/breakfast. There is also a one bedroom guest house with en suite. Swimming pool complex with games room and sauna, garaging, gym and attractive established gardens.”
Here’s the market overview page for CM16 where the average property value is: £385,517.
So, assuming that it is his and he sold at the asking, it looks like Mr Lennon could make – £165,000 on the sale, based on the purchase price of £2,435,000 in Jan 2007 (not including fees etc).
Ronnie Wood to lose at least £1.375m on London property

According to reports in the Daily Mail, ageing rocker Ronnie Wood has reduced the asking price on his Queen Anne house built c.1700 which directly overlooks the River Thames on London’s Cheyne Walk, SW10.
He first listed his property for sale in October 2009 for £6.5m, but recently reduced the asking price to £5.875million. It’s reported that he actually paid £7.25m for the property just over two years ago and that a hefty divorce settlement has led to the sale of the property.
We estimate the value of 103 Cheyne Walk, London, SW10 to be £10,138,631. This is higher than the average current value for homes on Cheyne Walk, SW10, which is £2,677,955. There have been 3 property sales on Cheyne Walk in the last 12 months, with the average price paid being £2,408,333.
Cheyne Walk has long been home to many a wealthy individual and has been dubbed “Rolling Stones Row” – Mick Jagger used to live at number 48 and Keith Richard at number 3 with Bill Wyman who, it’s believed is still living a stones (sorry) throw away on the Kings Road.
According to the selling agents:
“…the property extends to some 4,228 sq ft, the house has detailed planning consent for extension to provide approximately 7,300 sq ft of accommodation. The current consents, confirmed in November 2007, provide for a much extended house with basement, sub-basement and swimming pool. Various documents, elevations and plans are available upon request.”

Best and Worst Celebrity Neighbours Revealed
When it comes to the value of your home, celebrity neighbours can both add to and detract from property values in a neighbourhood. Our 2010 Celebrity Neighbour Survey makes it clear who would be welcomed and who wouldn’t.
Prolific twitterer and ‘national treasure’ Stephen Fry, who lives in West Hampstead, London where the average value of a detached house is £854,266, has been crowned as the celebrity the nation would most like to share a fence with.
In second place was the nation’s newly crowned ‘sweetheart’ Cheryl Cole who lives in footballers favourite Oxshott, Surrey where average property values are £1,202,774. Completing the top five choices for best neighbours were Location, Location’s Kirstie Allsopp, pukka chef Jamie Oliver and Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson.
Respondents made it clear that being ‘noisy’ and ‘disruptive’ top the list of things that make a bad neighbour and voted Pete Doherty as their least desirable celebrity neighbour – a more unpopular choice than Nick Griffin.
What’s interesting is that it’s likely that the Babyshambles rocker doesn’t have any immediate neighbours anyway. He currently resides in a nine-bedroomed red-brick Georgian house on the outskirts of Marlborough, Wiltshire where the average value of a detached house is £466,781.
Doherty fought off fierce competition from Rehab singer Amy Winehouse who no doubt experienced some ‘for sale’ signs going up in a hurry last year in the leafy suburb of Hadley Wood in Barnet (average value of a detatched house in Barnet: £875,984) when she announced she was moving in.
Politically speaking…
As a possible sign of things to come in May, the nation has made clear which political figure they would prefer as a neighbour in 2010 with David Cameron (who, when not in London lives in Dean, Oxfordshire where average property values are: £646,523) making the list of ten most desirable neighbours, while Gordon Brown features as one of the ten least desirable. However, BNP leader Nick Griffin (Welshpool, average property values: £175,537) outstrips all other politicians in terms of unpopularity, capturing almost 10% of the votes as the celebrity people would least like to find next door.
Sitting on the fence…
Following his recent stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Vinnie Jones appears to have split the nation in terms of whether he would make a good neighbour, with 3.2% of voters saying he would not be their choice of a desirable neighbour and 3.8% voting for him as someone they would like to have living next door. Similar sentiment surrounds Gordon Ramsay (Wandsworth, London, average value for a detached property: £854,266) who appears to be the Marmite of neighbours, with an almost equal number of people voting both for and against him as someone they would want on their street.
What was pleasing to see was that, as a nation, we seem to know our neighbours with only 7.9% of respondents claiming to not know who is on the other side of the fence and in some ways contradictory, the two traits that were overwhelmingly stated as making a good neighbour were ‘keeping an eye on our property’ and ‘minding their own business’!

Tony Blair to sell his one time constituency home

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair is to sell his onetime constituency home Myrobella House in Trimdon Colliery, Durham – the county which we recently revealed as the slowest recovering area in Britain, seeing values grow by only 1.1% since March of this year.
According to the Daily Mail, TB paid £30,000 for the property back in 1983 and the four bedroomed detached house is now being marketed for £300,000 through local agents Robinsons.
It appears TB is beating the current market with this property. If we look at the Zoopla! Zed-Index (the average home value in a given area based on current Zoopla! Estimates) for Trimdon Colliery it’s £153,930 for a detached house, which suggests that Blair’s home is likely to be one of the larger, if not largest on that street. Here’s a map view of Trimdon Colliery.
Since stepping down as leader of the Labour party in June 2007 TB has become somewhat of a property collector with a stunning country pad in Buckinghamshire: The South Pavilion in Wotton Underwood which set him back £4m, and the well documented purchase of Connaught Square, Central London which cost £3.6m in 2004 and we now value at £4.6m.
So, when he agrees a sale of Myrobella House we believe he’ll add to his portfolio of stunning properties – maybe an overseas purchase?
Oh and if you were wondering what Myrobella is – it’s a variety of plum.
