Here at Zoopla, we’re a competitive bunch, winning a host of accolades for running Britain’s leading property website.
And this week we applied our winning ways to making money for charity at our latest get together at the West Bromwich Albion football ground.
Zoopla is enjoying its second year sponsoring the Birmingham-based football club. During every match, we run a competition for ticket holders to win cash prizes if they successfully kick a ball through the door of a cardboard cut-out of a detached house. The kicks are taken at half time, in front of thousands of fans.
The same competition was run at the staff gathering on Wednesday – albeit on a smaller scale, in front of all of our 200 high-achieving individuals. But instead of taking the cash for ourselves, we donated it to charity. A goal was rewarded with £50 cash, producing a total of £700.
We’re delighted to be supporting the Albion Foundation and a host of other local charities. The Albion Foundation does outstanding work in the local community as do the other charities we’ve chosen to support – and we recognise that these charities rely heavily on donations from businesses like ours.

Next week (2nd September) sees the launch of our exciting new integrated multi-million pound marketing campaign. It’s the most comprehensive marketing campaign to date from us and dramatises a number of key features of the Zoopla website that provide users with the tools and information to help them make ‘smarter’ property decisions.
The TV-led campaign brings to life the experience of searching for property on Zoopla and shows the wide range of useful local information and data available such as proximity to transport links, school performance stats and local area ratings, all of which we have included in order to help home hunters find their ideal home.
And, it’s not just a national TV campaign, but for the first time we’ve extended beyond the small screen and radio. The new campaign will also include bus, tube and outdoor advertising as Zoopla looks to build on its already significant brand awareness across the UK.
This weekend we are launching our biggest ever advertising campaign with a brand new multi-million pound national TV, radio and print campaign. This follows the recent launch of our multi-year sponsorship of West Bromwich Albion football club, currently in an impressive fourth place in the Premier League after the first two weeks of the season!
The new TV and radio ads will be seen and heard throughout prime-time on a broad range of national TV channels and radio stations, with print ads running across various national newspapers. The campaign, dubbed ‘Talking Houses’ features three animated houses in three different adverts discussing the property market and the benefits of Zoopla.
Giving life to the houses are the voices of well-known British actors Jim Broadbent (Bridget Jones’ Diary, Harry Potter), Doon Mackichan (Smack the Pony) and can you recognise the third voice…with property market expert Phil Spencer’s voice at the end of each ad.
We hope you like them. Let us know what you think in the comments box below or find us here:
The sponsorship of Premiership club West Bromwich Albion by Zoopla.co.uk kicked off in spectacular fashion on Saturday when ‘the Baggies’ comprehensively defeated Liverpool at their Hawthorns stadium by three goals to nil.
A near capacity crowd of 26,000 watched Steve Clarke’s team get their season off to an ideal start as Zoltan Gera, Peter Odemwingie and Romelu Lukaku scored while wearing this season’s new Zoopla-emblazoned strip and surrounded by Zoopla’s distinctive purple hoardings.
The sponsorship deal, which runs until at least the 2014/15 season, also includes Zoopla logos on official club merchandise, across its website, on match tickets and programmes and of course on interview backdrops for post-match TV interviews.
But as well as being the principal sponsor of the club, much more was on offer during the Liverpool game.
At half time three Baggies fans kicked for a chance to win either £1,000 or a house if they could place a ball through one of three openings in the Zoopla Halftime House while former team player and now youth coach Darren Moore (pictured, below) also had a go. To register to have a go in this challenge at each home game, visit the Zoopla Halftime House Challenge page.
Also, Zoopla announced it is supporting the Albion Foundation, a charitable trust set up to work with West Bromwich Albion to help regenerate the local community through sporting, educational and health initiatives and activities.
Zoopla has pledged £50,000 to the foundation over the next two years as well as additional donations each game depending on the team’s performance via Zoopla Golden Goals.
This was launched at the Liverpool game too. Every time the team scores at home or away Zoopla will donate and additional £1,000 split half with the foundation and half with five key local charities. For starters, on Saturday, £3,000 was raised when the team scored its clutch of goals.
We are delighted to announce that we have signed a long-term partnership as the principal sponsor of Premier League football club, West Bromwich Albion. The sponsorship deal will take effect from June 1st will run until at least the 2014/2015 season.
The deal, which marks a new phase of brand activity for Zoopla, following its highly successful national TV campaigns, will see Zoopla branding take pride of place on the shirts of the Albion players, throughout the Hawthorns stadium, on official club merchandise, across the club’s website, on match tickets/programmes and on the interview backdrops featured on Sky and BBC football coverage.
Having recently played their last match of the season, the Baggies finished in 10th place this year, their highest ever finish in the Barclays Premier League.
This latest deal confirms Zoopla’s commitment to becoming the UK’s best known online property brand. With only twenty teams in the Premier League, Zoopla joins an elite group of brands including Aviva, Emirates, Samsung and Standard Chartered in securing the principal sponsorship of one of these top class football clubs.
Alex Chesterman, Founder & CEO of Zoopla said: “We are very excited to be partnering with West Bromwich Albion, a family club with a rich heritage and some of the best fans in football. Our agent members will benefit greatly from the national brand exposure of this partnership as we further cement our position as their most valued marketing partner. We are looking forward to working closely with West Bromwich Albion to ensure that this is a highly beneficial relationship for both parties.”

We have been impressed by the approach that Zoopla have taken to supporting the club, are confident that they will be a great partner for us and are looking forward to building a strong working relationship with them.”

Despite having been around for only 4 years, Zoopla.co.uk has become a leading player in the online property sector and one of the UK’s most-visited websites. We have found a fantastic partner in Zoopla and are excited about working with the Zoopla team to help achieve their brand and business objectives over the coming years.”
