Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz – Property hunting in Lincolnshire?
Actors Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have rumored to have been eyeing up a £12m marital home in the Lincolnshire countryside.
The 19th Century Dalby Hall is in the quiet village of Spilsby, near the East Midlands coast. Interest sparked in the property as the famously well compensated Craig is rumoured to collect £31m for his part as the MI6 agent in the upcoming Bond films – the as yet unnamed ‘Bond 24 and 25’.
The couple are known for their interest in property, with their portfolio including a four floor townhouse in London’s Primrose Hill, where the average property can go for as much as £3.5m as well as property in America’s SoHo and New York City.
The estate agent said the property has now been taken off the market, but a new buyer has not been confirmed.
The 1856 Grade II listed building was designed by architect James Fowlerand built in 1856 after a fire destroyed the original Dalby Hall in 1841.
It is set within 1000 acres of farmland and woodland and includes a tennis court, a multi-acre pond with reportedly some of the finest trout in Lincolnshire, and a private airstrip.
The 10,000 square foot mansion has four main bedrooms, all en suite and on the second floor – with an additional four bedrooms in the exterior wing of the property. Other features include no fewer than 12 fireplaces, 10 bathrooms and original staircases.
The estate comes complete with an additional residential 13 bedroom farm house, six smaller properties, and a scenic three bedroom Tudor gatehouse thrown in for good measure.
It’s easy to see why a celebrity would like the surrounding area, as it is secluded and away from prying eyes. Craig’s representatives are understood to have claimed that the couple were not even in the country at the time of the supposed viewing.
