Chris Martin’s childhood home for sale

Coldplay – and Chris Martin in particular - generate a Marmite-like love or hate response but let’s ignore the backlash that comes with global success (and marrying into Hollywood royalty) and have a look at the where rather than the what.
One thing can be said for Mr Martin – he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His former childhood home is for sale and it was a feathered nest – a detached Georgian pile in the pretty village of Whitestone near Exeter. The property was bought by the Martins (senior) 32 years ago when Chris, the eldest of their five children, would have been just a year old.
The attractive six-bedroom, cream-coloured house is set in large gardens, parts of which resemble a forest and there are also views from its upper floors of the never-ending countryside around it (pictured below): a suitable setting to inspire a fledgling songwriter in his formative years?
The question is, if this was your old family home and you had £50m in the bank then wouldn’t you be tempted to snap it up? On the market for f £1.35 million, Chris and wife Gwyneth Paltrow could easily keep this home in the family.

Would have thought he would have bought/kept the house himself, I guess he wouldn’t get much time to stay there?

Why are his parents selling it? They’ve been there for many years and surely there must be some sentimental value. It doesn’t look like it’s because they can’t afford to run it (as with some elderly couples when their children have grown up and moved away) and so need to down-size.
